The Opportunity

The School of Graduate Studies in the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Candidates with expertise in aviation data, safety management systems (SMS), and aviation analytics are strongly preferred.

The Graduate School offers:

• M.S. in Aviation (specializations in Aviation Safety, Uncrewed Systems, and Space Operations).

• M.S. in Occupational Safety Management, M.S. in Uncrewed Systems, and M.S. in Space Operations (traditional campus format).

• Ph.D. in Aviation (online) with specializations in Aviation Safety, Human Factors, Operations, and Intradisciplinary studies.

Responsibilities

• Teach 2–3 graduate-level courses per semester (doctoral and master’s).

• Chair Ph.D. dissertation and/or M.S. thesis committees.

• Maintain active scholarly research: publish, secure external funding, and present at professional conferences.

• Provide service to the university, community, and profession.

• Deliver instruction in both traditional classrooms and online formats.

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate in safety science, aviation, aviation analytics, or a related area.

• Relevant academic or industry experience in aviation data, safety, or analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in aviation or a closely related field.

• Demonstrated teaching and research experience in:

  • Aviation safety & SMS

  • Flight data analysis

  • Aviation safety data & analytics

• FAA pilot certifications highly preferred.
