General Description
Union College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty – Fire Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with approved course syllabi and college policies. Candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to become certified to teach online.
Duties and Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses as scheduled, using approved course syllabi and interactive instructional methods where possible.

Incorporate diverse cultural and global perspectives into classroom instruction.

Integrate library resources, writing assignments, and technology-based learning tools into coursework.

Maintain consistent class attendance, grade records, and timely submission of required reports.

Submit grades by published deadlines and participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.

Communicate absences to the Division Dean or Assistant Dean promptly.

Ensure the availability of necessary supplies, textbooks, and classroom materials.

Provide progress reports for students and coordinate with counselors or support staff as needed.

Comply with all College policies, procedures, and academic standards.
Education Requirements
-
Master’s Degree in Fire Science or a closely related discipline is required (unless otherwise specified).

Some teaching experience required.

Official college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.
Preferred Experience
-
Teaching experience at the community college level.
-
Experience using alternative instructional delivery systems.
Competencies and Skills

Certification or professional license in a related field (if applicable).

Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate students effectively.

Strong commitment to incorporating technology, diversity, and assessment into the teaching process.

Proficiency with digital and information technology tools.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work performed primarily in a classroom or lab setting.
