Position Summary
The Fire Academy Duty Officer plays a key role in maintaining the safety, security, and efficient operations of the Mercer County Fire Academy during assigned shifts.
This part-time position provides essential support to instructors, students, and visitors, ensuring a professional and organized learning environment within the Academy and training grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Greet and assist visitors at the Fire Academy facility.

Provide customer service to organizations and training groups utilizing the Academy.

Answer telephone inquiries, take messages, and assist callers as needed.

Support Fire Academy instructors with tasks such as AV equipment setup, distribution and collection of student evaluations, and other instructional needs.

Inspect, return, and secure all classroom and training equipment after use.

Lock and secure classrooms, facilities, and the training grounds at the end of activities.

Perform apparatus and pump operator duties as required.

Submit reports and make necessary notifications in accordance with Academy procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

New Jersey Certified Firefighter I
-
New Jersey HazMat Operations & Awareness Certification
-
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a firefighter or EMT
Preferred Qualifications

New Jersey Certified EMT-B
-
Health Care Provider CPR Certification

Pump Operator experience
