Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Program Director and Lead Instructor, the Supplemental Instructor is responsible for conducting hands-on training and classroom instruction in various Fire Science disciplines. The instructor follows approved curriculum and course materials while assisting with training demonstrations to support student learning.
This part-time role may include non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on training schedules and program needs.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions in accordance with college standards, policies, and regulations.

Collaborate with faculty to ensure high-quality instruction aligned with Fire Science program objectives.

Maintain current knowledge of practices, research, and trends in fire service education.

Adhere to established class schedules and meet attendance and performance standards.

Maintain confidentiality related to student records and academic matters.

Provide constructive feedback and encourage student engagement and success.

Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and program leadership.

Apply and uphold all college policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Minimum Qualifications

Professional certification relevant to the subject matter being taught.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the fire service field.

NFPA Fire Instructor I certification or equivalent credential.

Minimum of forty (40) documented instructional hours in the applicable subject area(s).
Note:
Instructors are required to maintain all active certifications and submit documentation to Human Resources and the Program Director to ensure compliance while instructing.

Evaluation for the instructor pool is based solely on submitted materials. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
Qualified applicants will remain active in the pool for 12 months. Those not assigned within that period must reapply with updated credentials to be considered for future openings.
