Position Overview

The Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), located in Boston’s renowned Longwood Medical Area, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Oral Radiology at the assistant or associate professor level. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and accomplishments.

As part of one of the nation’s preeminent dental schools, the successful candidate will join a dynamic academic community dedicated to advancing oral and systemic health through education, research, and clinical excellence. Founded in 1867, HSDM was the first dental school in the United States to be integrated with a university and its medical school, emphasizing a strong connection between oral and general health.


Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and administrative leadership as Head of the Oral Radiology discipline.

  • Oversee oral radiology curriculum, assessments, and accreditation standards.

  • Deliver innovative instruction to predoctoral and postdoctoral students and residents.

  • Supervise clinical radiology services and student rotations within HSDM’s faculty practice.

  • Engage in scholarly research and mentor students and residents on research projects.

  • Collaborate across Harvard’s ecosystem, including the Harvard Medical School, T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

  • Contribute to advanced diagnostic imaging initiatives, including Cone Beam CT and AI-based imaging technologies.

  • Optionally participate in intramural or extramural clinical practice, based on interest and availability.


Basic Qualifications

  • DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree.

  • Completion of a postgraduate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

  • Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

  • Demonstrated evidence of scholarly achievement and growth within the field.


Additional Qualifications

  • Proven experience in academic or clinical leadership and working with diverse student populations.

  • Strong record of research accomplishments.

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Interest or experience in artificial intelligence applications in imaging and diagnostic innovation.


Salary Range

$130,000 – $200,000 per year, commensurate with rank, education, certification, and experience.
