Position Overview

The Assistant Professor of Dental Hygiene plays a vital role in delivering high-quality education, advancing research, and mentoring students in ISU’s Division of Health Sciences. This full-time, tenure-track position involves teaching, research, professional service, and academic advising within the bachelor’s degree program in Dental Hygiene.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver didactic, clinical, laboratory, and online instruction (60%)

  • Conduct and disseminate research or creative scholarship, including grant writing (20%)

  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students (10%)

  • Participate in professional and community service activities (10%)


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene or a closely related field

  • Minimum two years of teaching experience with adult learners in a bachelor’s-level dental hygiene program

  • Proven record of scholarly work, research, grant writing, or publications within the last two or more years

  • Education and clinical experience in non-surgical periodontal therapy and local anesthesia administration

  • Graduate of an ADA CODA-accredited dental hygiene program

  • Licensed Dental Hygienist with an active Idaho Dental Hygiene License


Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of teaching experience with adult learners in a dental hygiene bachelor’s program

  • Membership in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA)

  • Record of original research and national scholarly presentations


Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $64,000 – $66,884 (commensurate with education and experience)

  • Appointment Type: 9-month, full-time, tenure-track
