Position Summary

The Continuing Education Instructor – Dental Assistant provides high-quality instruction, guidance, and program support for LSC’s Continuing Education (CE) Healthcare division. The instructor designs and delivers engaging courses in dental assisting, ensuring students gain the knowledge and skills necessary for certification and career readiness.


Essential Job Functions

  • Teach Dental Assisting courses in multiple formats and locations as required.

  • Develop and maintain course syllabi in alignment with departmental and college standards.

  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

  • Advise and mentor students to support their educational and professional goals.

  • Manage classroom and lab environments, ensuring compliance with state requirements.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of lab supplies and ensure readiness for instruction.

  • Coordinate clinical placements and secure dental facilities for 60-hour clinical rotations.

  • Collaborate with certification agencies to align curriculum with industry standards.

  • Support student job placement and career readiness initiatives.

  • Attend college meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification.

  • Three (3) years of non-teaching professional experience in the dental field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in course content and commitment to academic excellence.

Physical Requirements

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Teaching hours vary by semester; instructors must meet all scheduled class times.

  • Work performed in classrooms and laboratories with standard safety practices.

  • Typical workload: up to 1,200 instructional training hours per academic year.

  • Use of PC workstation, phone, calculator, and other standard office/lab equipment.
