Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrate expertise in nutrition, culinary arts, or a related discipline, maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge.

  • Prepare and deliver relevant, engaging, and current course material to support student learning.

  • Assess and revise instructional methods to continuously improve teaching effectiveness.

  • Apply both formative and summative assessments to evaluate and enhance student outcomes.

  • Serve as an academic advisor, guiding students in course selection, program decisions, and career planning.

  • Contribute to university outcomes assessment and curriculum development, ensuring alignment with program standards and institutional goals.

  • Participate in faculty and departmental meetings, commencement ceremonies, professional development sessions, and university events.

  • Support student retention and engagement by advising clubs, participating in recruitment, and assisting with admissions initiatives.

  • Adhere to the university’s faculty responsibilities as detailed in the Faculty Manual.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or another accreditation recognized by JWU.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential.

  • Professional experience in foodservice management and/or culinary arts.

  • College-level teaching experience, particularly in applied nutrition or culinary education.

  • Candidates must reside within or relocate to a commutable distance of the Charlotte Campus upon hire.
