Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) invites applications for a full-time Culinary Arts Instructor to join its Business Programs Team. The selected candidate will play a vital role in preparing students for careers in the culinary industry by delivering an engaging and industry-relevant learning experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Culinary Arts Instructor will:

  • Teach Culinary Arts courses according to published curricula, ensuring course objectives and outcomes are met.

  • Prepare and submit syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials following college policies.

  • Maintain an inclusive and safe classroom and lab environment that promotes learning and creativity.

  • Integrate innovative, research-based teaching strategies, including technology-enhanced learning and service-learning opportunities.

  • Advise and mentor students, maintaining regular office hours for consultation and support.

  • Participate in student recruitment, curriculum development, and program evaluation.

  • Utilize Blackboard and other instructional technologies effectively to enhance student learning.

  • Maintain compliance with college policies, including FERPA and safety standards.

  • Engage in college and community service, committee participation, and professional development activities.

  • Support program growth by fostering relationships with local businesses, industry professionals, and culinary associations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts or a closely related field.

  • At least two years of professional experience in the culinary industry.

  • Current ServSafe Certification.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • Ability to meet industry physical requirements, including:

    • Lifting up to 50 lbs

    • Standing for extended periods

    • Working with cleaning agents, food safety chemicals, and variable temperatures


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.

  • Teaching experience at a community college or university.

  • Experience teaching online using Blackboard.

  • Current ServSafe Instructor/Proctor Certification.

  • ACF (American Culinary Federation) Certification.
