Duties and Responsibilities
The Culinary Arts Instructor will:
-
Teach Culinary Arts courses according to published curricula, ensuring course objectives and outcomes are met.
-
Prepare and submit syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials following college policies.
-
Maintain an inclusive and safe classroom and lab environment that promotes learning and creativity.
-
Integrate innovative, research-based teaching strategies, including technology-enhanced learning and service-learning opportunities.
-
Advise and mentor students, maintaining regular office hours for consultation and support.
-
Participate in student recruitment, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
-
Utilize Blackboard and other instructional technologies effectively to enhance student learning.
-
Maintain compliance with college policies, including FERPA and safety standards.
-
Engage in college and community service, committee participation, and professional development activities.
-
Support program growth by fostering relationships with local businesses, industry professionals, and culinary associations.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Associate degree in Culinary Arts or a closely related field.
-
At least two years of professional experience in the culinary industry.

Current ServSafe Certification.
-
Strong communication skills (oral and written).
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Ability to meet industry physical requirements, including:
-
Lifting up to 50 lbs
-
Standing for extended periods
-
Working with cleaning agents, food safety chemicals, and variable temperatures
-
Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.

Teaching experience at a community college or university.
-
Experience teaching online using Blackboard.
-
Current ServSafe Instructor/Proctor Certification.
-
ACF (American Culinary Federation) Certification.
