Position Summary

College of the Mainland invites qualified candidates to apply for the Adjunct Faculty – Cosmetology position. The instructor will teach a variety of cosmetology courses, providing both classroom and laboratory instruction aligned with the standards and regulations of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Faculty members are expected to create an engaging learning environment, assess student progress, and uphold the college’s commitment to excellence in technical education.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Texas Cosmetology or Dual Cosmetology/Barber License.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in the field of cosmetology.

  • Competency with basic computer skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Cosmetology.

  • Teaching experience in a cosmetology program.


Knowledge and Skills

Required:

  • Mastery of course content and strong understanding of TDLR rules and regulations.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching in both classroom and laboratory settings.

  • Knowledge of TDLR exam preparation.

  • Experience developing lesson plans and evaluating student outcomes.


Essential Duties

  • Teach cosmetology courses in both lab and classroom settings.

  • Develop and follow course syllabi according to institutional guidelines.

  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records.

  • Submit required reports and forms in a timely manner.

  • Advise and support students to achieve academic success.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and orientations as needed.


Licensing/Certification

  • Must hold a current Texas Cosmetology or Dual Cosmetology/Barber License.


Physical Requirements

The position requires:

  • Standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive motions.

  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently.
