Adjunct Faculty – Cosmetology

Position Overview
South Suburban College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty Member to provide in-person instruction in our IDFPR-approved Cosmetology program. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, support student learning, and contribute to the continued success and growth of the cosmetology department.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide engaging and effective in-person instruction in accordance with course objectives and department standards.

• Prepare lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with program outcomes.

• Maintain accurate attendance and grading records in compliance with college policies.

• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student success.

• Utilize technology tools and Learning Management Systems (such as D2L Brightspace) to enhance instruction.

• Demonstrate professionalism and uphold all institutional, state, and licensure requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Instructor Certificate in Cosmetology.

• Minimum of two years of industry experience in the field.

• Demonstrated commitment to teaching a diverse student population representing a range of ages, abilities, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching experience in cosmetology or a related field.

• Experience using D2L Brightspace or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).

• Salary: Determined by the Adjunct Faculty Contract and based on qualifications.
