Adjunct Faculty – Cosmetology
Position Overview
South Suburban College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty Member to provide in-person instruction in our IDFPR-approved Cosmetology program. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, support student learning, and contribute to the continued success and growth of the cosmetology department.
Essential Responsibilities

Provide engaging and effective in-person instruction in accordance with course objectives and department standards.

Prepare lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with program outcomes.

Maintain accurate attendance and grading records in compliance with college policies.

Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student success.

Utilize technology tools and Learning Management Systems (such as D2L Brightspace) to enhance instruction.

Demonstrate professionalism and uphold all institutional, state, and licensure requirements.
Minimum Qualifications

Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Instructor Certificate in Cosmetology.

Minimum of two years of industry experience in the field.

Demonstrated commitment to teaching a diverse student population representing a range of ages, abilities, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience in cosmetology or a related field.

Experience using D2L Brightspace or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
