Position Overview

South Suburban College is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty members to teach Welding courses within the Liberal Arts & Science Division. The successful candidates will provide high-quality instruction in welding technology, blueprint reading, and related processes, helping students develop the technical and safety skills required for success in the welding industry.

Applicants are encouraged to indicate their availability for daytime, evening, or both class schedules.


Courses and Requirements

WLD 107 – Blueprint Reading for Welding

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a welder or welding educator.

  • Experience in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC.

  • AWS certification (CWE or CWI).

  • Associate degree in Welding or a related field.


WLD 104 – SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a welder or welding educator.

  • Experience in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC.

  • AWS certification (CWE or CWI).

  • Associate degree in Welding or a related field.


WLD 110 – GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a welder or welding educator.

  • Experience in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC.

  • AWS certification (CWE or CWI).

  • Associate degree in Welding or a related field.


WLD 112 – GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a welder or welding educator.

  • Experience in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC.

  • AWS certification (CWE or CWI).

  • Associate degree in Welding or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications

  • College or vocational teaching experience.

  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards.

  • Excellent communication and instructional skills.
