Job Summary
POOL POSITION
Applications for this part-time CDL Instructor position are accepted on an ongoing basis due to growing program demand. Assignments depend on enrollment numbers and institutional needs.
The Workforce and Economic Development Division (W.E.D.) at MCC leads workforce training and community enrichment efforts throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. The division partners with local industries, families, and organizations to provide education that supports economic and community growth.
Temporary faculty play an essential role by delivering high-quality, hands-on instruction and engaging in all teaching-related activities, including preparation, grading, and student support. Instructors must maintain current credentials as required by the college’s accrediting agencies.
Employment Restrictions

Annuitants of the Missouri Retirement System must comply with all applicable regulations.

Employees with a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate may need to participate in the Public School Retirement System of Missouri (PSRS).

Temporary faculty may teach up to 10 work units per semester (fall/spring), with an additional 2 units allowed upon dean approval (maximum of 24 work units per academic year).

For summer, assignments are limited to 3.5 work units in June and 3.5 in July.

Noncredit courses during the academic year count toward these limits.
Combination Load Maximum: For faculty teaching both work unit and clock-hour assignments, total hours must adhere to MCC’s temporary faculty workload policy.
Essential Functions
The CDL Instructor will:

Provide instruction in classroom, range, and on-road environments.

Ensure compliance with Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements.

Teach core areas such as:

Theory coursework
-
Pre-trip inspections
-
Backing maneuvers
-
On-road driving skills
-
Minimum Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED.

At least three (3) years of commercial driving experience.

Valid CDL license (Class A).

Valid DOT physical certification.

Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check at hire and annually thereafter.
