Job Overview

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) invites applications for the position of Adjunct Motorcycle Safety Instructor within the Workforce and Economic Development Division (W.E.D.). This is a part-time, non-credit faculty position located at the Maple Woods campus.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis due to program demand. Assignments depend on enrollment and operational needs.

Job Responsibilities

As a Motorcycle Safety Instructor, you will:

  • Perform basic motorcycle maintenance, including damaged parts replacement, fluid and leak repairs, and carburetor/fuel system adjustments.

  • Conduct tire and brake replacements and troubleshoot mechanical issues.

  • Safely transport, refuel, and test ride motorcycles to ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Move motorcycles in and out of storage areas as needed.

  • Deliver high-quality instruction and maintain accurate course records, grades, and other instructional duties as assigned.


Employment Guidelines

  • Temporary faculty may teach up to 10 work units per semester (fall/spring).

  • An additional 2 work units per term may be approved by the dean.

  • A maximum of 24 work units per academic year is allowed.

  • During summer, assignments are limited to 3.5 work units per month (June and July).

  • Noncredit courses taught during the academic year count toward these limits.

    Combination Load Maximum: Faculty with both work unit and clock-hour duties must comply with MCC’s assignment limitations.


Required Qualifications

  • Authorization from the Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program to teach in Missouri.

  • Valid Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider Coach number (must be attached as Other Document 01).

  • Valid Driver’s License with motorcycle endorsement.

  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check upon hire and annually thereafter.

  • Strong knowledge of motorcycle safety education and maintenance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with a diverse community.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and administrators.


Physical Requirements

This position involves:

  • Standing, walking, reaching, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity.

  • Pushing and moving motorcycles as needed.

  • Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
