Position Overview

The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Wilkes University invites applications for a Faculty of Practice position specializing in Additive Manufacturing. This full-time, non-tenure-track appointment begins in Fall 2026, pending funding availability.

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated professional with extensive experience in 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and design for additive manufacturing (DfAM). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for hands-on learning, student mentorship, and industry collaboration within both undergraduate and graduate engineering programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Additive Manufacturing, Solid Mechanics, CAD/CAM, and related subjects.

  • Supervise student design projects and senior capstones involving advanced manufacturing technologies.

  • Develop and implement laboratory modules that promote experiential, application-based learning.

  • Partner with industry leaders to enhance workforce readiness and experiential learning initiatives.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and program improvement efforts.

  • Participate in departmental and college service activities.


Required Qualifications

  • Masterโ€™s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated expertise in additive manufacturing technologies and design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, EOS, Markforged, or similar).

  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.

  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
