Job Summary

The Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured Assistant/Associate Professor position.

We seek outstanding scholars with expertise in Industrial Engineering or closely related disciplines such as Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, or Human Factors.

Ideal candidates will have research interests in one or more of the following areas:

  • Logistics and Supply Networks

  • Systems Engineering (including Human-AI teaming, Healthcare Systems, and Cyber-Physical Systems)

  • Manufacturing Systems and Automation

  • Digital Twins, Simulation, and Stochastic Modeling

  • Optimization and Data-Driven Decision Making

Successful applicants will:

  • Conduct original, high-impact research and pursue external funding opportunities.

  • Teach and develop courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Advise and mentor graduate students.

  • Contribute to service and leadership within the School, College, and University.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field — required by the start date.

  • Early-career candidates should demonstrate potential for establishing an independent research program.

  • Mid-career candidates should show a sustained record of impactful research, publications, and mentorship in academic or industrial settings.

  • Strong evidence of teaching excellence, communication skills, and collaboration across disciplines is highly valued.
