Position Description

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID) in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning Fall 2026.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical and manufacturing engineering technology.

  • Mentor and advise graduate students.

  • Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program.

  • Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities.

  • Engage in professional service within the academic and industrial community.


About the Department

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID) is one of 15 departments within Texas A&M’s College of Engineering and is distinguished by its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education.

  • The department offers four undergraduate and three graduate programs (including two distance education programs).

  • Faculty: 112 members, including 36 tenured/tenure-track and 76 non-tenure-track (part-time and full-time).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering/science discipline.

  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Practical experience in applied research and technology development, particularly in:

    • Advanced manufacturing systems (design, modeling, control)

    • Cyber-physical systems

    • Applied AI and smart manufacturing

    • Data-driven discovery and optimization

  • Experience collaborating with industry or government research labs.
