Position Summary
Gateway Community & Technical College seeks a skilled Manufacturing Programmer / CNC Operator to provide hands-on workforce training for adult learners and incumbent workers. This part-time, non-credit teaching role involves delivering customized instruction at local employer sites and campus-based labs as needed.
This position is ideal for industry professionals with CNC programming experience who enjoy mentoring and sharing practical skills with adult learners on a flexible, as-needed basis.
Key Responsibilities

Teach foundational and intermediate concepts in industrial/manufacturing programming, including:

Reading, writing, and editing manual programs for CNC mills and CNC lathes

Responding to prompts and preparing conversational programs

Editing existing conversational programs

Deliver instruction using hands-on demonstrations, simulation panels, and real-world troubleshooting examples

Emphasize and reinforce safety practices throughout all instructional activities

Prepare and maintain training materials, tools, and equipment

Collaborate with the Workforce Solutions team, employer partners, and learners to coordinate training schedules and expectations

Support learners through informal assessments, real-time feedback, and coaching
Minimum Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED (required)
-
A trade school certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (preferred)

Minimum of 3 years’ recent CNC programming or machining experience in a manufacturing setting

Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming for CNC mills and lathes, including program loading, verification, and editing

Ability to travel to employer sites across northern Kentucky and southern Ohio
-
Experience working with or training adult learners

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
