Position Overview

The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Wilkes University invites applications for a Faculty of Practice position in Additive Manufacturing, beginning Fall 2026 (pending funding availability).

We are seeking a dedicated educator and practitioner with extensive professional experience in advanced manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and design for additive manufacturing (DfAM). This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position focused on undergraduate and graduate education in a hands-on, innovation-driven environment.

Anticipated Start Date: August 2026 (pending funding availability)


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Additive Manufacturing, Solid Mechanics, CAD/CAM, and related areas.

  • Supervise student design projects and senior capstone initiatives involving advanced manufacturing techniques.

  • Develop and integrate hands-on laboratory modules and experiential learning opportunities.

  • Collaborate with industry partners to enhance workforce readiness and applied research.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, continuous improvement, and accreditation processes.

  • Participate in departmental and college service activities as appropriate.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Proven expertise in additive manufacturing technologies and design software such as SolidWorks, AutoDesk Fusion 360, EOS, Markforged, or equivalent tools.

  • Strong commitment to student-centered teaching, mentoring, and applied learning.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.

  • Record of collaboration with industry or applied research projects.

  • Experience developing interdisciplinary or experiential engineering curricula.
