Position Overview

The Faculty in Manufacturing Technology will deliver instruction in Advanced Manufacturing and related technologies. This full-time faculty position involves teaching across QCC locations, including Worcester, Southbridge, and other instructional sites.

The faculty member reports to the Dean of the School for Computing & Applied Technology and may supervise personnel assigned within the program area.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of courses in Advanced Manufacturing, including CNC operations, robotics and automation, quality control, blueprint reading, and CAD/CAM design.

  • Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction aligned with industry standards and hands-on experiences.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and update instructional materials, labs, and curriculum aligned with program outcomes and workforce needs.

  • Employ diverse teaching strategies to engage students with varying technical backgrounds, including underrepresented and nontraditional learners.

  • Design and implement assessment tools to measure student learning and improve program effectiveness.

  • Participate in program review, accreditation, and curriculum innovation, integrating new tools, technologies, and methods.

  • Provide academic advising and mentoring for students pursuing manufacturing and engineering pathways.

  • Support operation and maintenance of Advanced Manufacturing equipment and the QCC FABLAB, ensuring safe, effective student use.

  • Build partnerships with regional employers and industry leaders to align curriculum with workforce needs and support internships, apprenticeships, and job placements.

  • Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts that strengthen the Advanced Manufacturing program.

  • Participate in college service and committee work as outlined in the MCCC Agreement.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with CNC operations, robotics/automation, or CAD/CAM software.

  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence, student achievement, and inclusive education.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.

  • Three or more years of successful college-level teaching experience, preferably at a community college.

  • Professional experience in product design, process improvement, quality assurance, or lean manufacturing.

  • Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MasterCAM, or Verisurf.

  • Proven ability to develop curriculum, manage accreditation processes, and integrate national manufacturing credentials.

  • Demonstrated success in industry collaboration and applied learning initiatives.

  • Evidence of dedication to workforce development and experiential learning.
