Position Overview
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Electrical Engineering, beginning Fall 2026.
We seek innovative teacher-scholars dedicated to undergraduate education and research excellence. The ideal candidate will contribute to CSUSMās undergraduate-centered and modern Electrical Engineering program, which emphasizes hands-on learning and industry collaboration.
About the Department
Electrical Engineering is one of CSUSMās fastest-growing programs, offering ABET-accredited curricula and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. The department maintains strong connections with local technology industries and promotes active student participation in applied research.
A new 75,000 sq. ft. Integrated Science and Engineering Buildingāfeaturing cutting-edge engineering labsāis currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2027, supporting CSUSMās commitment to twenty-first-century learning and the teacher-scholar model.
Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering, including lecture and lab components.

Develop and sustain an active research program that leads to peer-reviewed publications.

Mentor and advise students, including those from diverse and first-generation backgrounds.

Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and ABET accreditation efforts.

Engage in university, professional, and community service activities.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (completed by appointment date).

B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and student success.

Evidence of research productivity and potential for sustained scholarly achievement.

Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse faculty and students.
Applicants with ABD status will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be awarded by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Experience using research-based instructional methods (e.g., project-based or community service learning).

Experience with course or lab development, program assessment, and ABET accreditation.

Demonstrated success in industry collaboration or participation in professional societies (e.g., IEEE, SHPE).

Research interests that complement and expand existing departmental expertise.
Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Salary Range: $8,600 ā $10,100 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221 ā $13,224 per month
