About HKUST (GZ)

Established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)HKUST (GZ) — is located in Nansha, Guangzhou, at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. HKUST (GZ) is the first university in the world to implement an innovative Hub-and-Thrust academic structure instead of traditional Schools and Departments. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities that enable scientists to work seamlessly across multiple disciplines. Upon full development, the HKUST (GZ) community will consist of 800 faculty members, 4,000 undergraduate students, and 6,000 postgraduate students.


Faculty Positions at INTR

The Information Hub’s Thrust of Intelligent Transportation (INTR) seeks talented faculty members dedicated to advancing cutting-edge technologies that integrate transportation systems, 5G/6G communications, artificial intelligence (AI), and data science. The ultimate goal is to improve the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of mobility for both people and goods.

We invite applications from candidates with expertise in (but not limited to) the following areas:

  • Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)

  • AI-empowered Transportation

  • Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV)

  • Human Factors in Transportation

  • Logistics and Freight Transportation

  • Mobility as a Service (MaaS)

  • Transportation Electrification and Sustainable Transportation

  • Transportation Operations Management

  • Transportation Resilience

  • Urban Computing and Spatio-temporal Data Mining

  • Urban Rail Transit


Candidate Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline.

  • Senior faculty candidates should demonstrate a strong record in teaching, research leadership, and academic service, along with experience in developing interdisciplinary curricula.

  • Junior faculty candidates should exhibit potential for research excellence and a commitment to high-quality teaching.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

HKUST (GZ) offers an internationally competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty members will receive:

All appointments are tenure-track positions in mainland China and comply with local employment regulations.

  • Professor and selected Associate Professor appointments are typically tenured positions.

  • Assistant Professor appointments are six-year tenure-track contracts with a mid-term review.
