About the Role

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan invites applications for a Lecturer (Full-Time Teaching Faculty) position. The successful candidate will join a dedicated teaching team committed to experiential learning, engineering design, and professional development of biomedical engineers.

This joint department between the College of Engineering and the Medical School offers a world-class learning environment that bridges technology and healthcare innovation.


Areas of Interest

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Biomechanics – Develop new course content and modernize lab modules at introductory or advanced levels.

  • Bioinstrumentation – Advance upper-level courses and support existing programs in this area.

  • Biocomputation – Contribute to AI and machine learning courses in biomedical engineering.


Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 4 biomedical engineering courses per academic year (topics depend on expertise).

  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of the BME program.

  • Support departmental service and professional growth activities.


Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Engineering or Physical Sciences, or BS/MS with significant relevant industry experience.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and improving educational outcomes.

  • Passion for experiential and inclusive learning.

  • Ability to enhance diversity and academic excellence through teaching and service.
