Position Overview
The Department of Economics at Dartmouth College invites applications for a Postbaccalaureate Fellow (PBF) in the areas of trade and development. Appointed at the rank of postgraduate research associate, the fellow will work closely with Professors Matthew Grant and Meredith Startz on research related to international and domestic supply chains, distribution of consumer goods, and access to finance for small businesses in developing countries.
This fellowship is designed for recent graduates seeking advanced research experience in preparation for a Ph.D. in economics, public policy, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
The Postbaccalaureate Fellow will contribute to all stages of research and teaching support, including:

Supporting data collection efforts, including survey programming in SurveyCTO, monitoring data quality, and assisting with random sampling protocols

Conducting economic analysis, including regression analysis and the creation of tables and figures

Communicating research findings through manuscript preparation and reports shared with research partners

Assisting with undergraduate research courses, including labs, review sessions, paper editing, and grading

Participating in research design, literature reviews, experiments, and report writing
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in economics or a related field, completed by the start of the appointment

Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Proficiency in Stata statistical programming

Ability to work independently and learn new technical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in economics, public policy, or a related discipline
Preferred (Not Required):

Experience with GIS or SurveyCTO

Fellows working in residence in Hanover are eligible for Graduate Special Student status, allowing enrollment in up to one Dartmouth course per academic year, with tuition covered by Dartmouth as a working condition fringe benefit.
