Position Overview

TSTC seeks an experienced Automotive Technology Instructor to teach applied learning courses in automotive technology. Instructors are expected to provide hands-on and lecture-based instruction, mentor students, develop curriculum, and engage in program recruitment and student retention activities.


Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery:

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction in automotive technology

  • Facilitate learning for students with diverse learning styles

  • Develop syllabi, instructional plans, and daily class organization

Instructional Management:

  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure a safe instructional environment

  • Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback

Student Retention & Placement:

  • Advise and mentor students regarding academics and career paths

  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Success for tutoring and retention

Program Recruitment & Promotion:

  • Participate in tours, recruitment events, and program promotion

  • Assist with planning and curriculum updates to meet industry needs

Teamwork & Service:

  • Exhibit professionalism and service-minded behavior

  • Flexible for evening, weekend, or summer assignments as needed


Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Associate degree in a closely related field

  • 5+ years of automotive industry experience

  • ASE Certifications: G1, A1-A8 Master Automobile Technician

  • Technical skills: engine rebuilds, diagnostics, HVAC, brakes, suspension, steering, hybrid/electric systems, ADAS, fuel/ignition/emission systems

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • AAS or Bachelor’s in Automotive Technology or related field

  • 7+ years of automotive industry experience

  • ASE Certifications: L1, L2, L3

  • EPA 609 certification

  • Advanced diagnostics and repair (hybrid/electric vehicles, bus network systems, transmissions)
