Position Overview
Peru State Collegeās School of Professional Studies invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice with a focus on Criminal Justice and Sociology. The position involves teaching a 12-hour load per semester, including both on-campus and online courses, mentoring students, engaging in professional development, and contributing to campus life.
Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate criminal justice and/or sociology courses on campus and online

Advise and mentor students

Participate in departmental, college, and campus activities

Engage in professional development and contribute to the academic discipline

Implement effective student engagement strategies in and outside the classroom

Support a diverse student population, including many first-generation college students
Qualifications
Required:
-
Masterās degree in criminal justice, sociology, or related area
-
At least 15 graduate credit hours in criminal justice or sociology

Experience with online and classroom teaching
-
Commitment to student success and engagement, especially for underrepresented students
Preferred:
-
Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in criminal justice, sociology, or related area

Professional experience in criminal justice or law enforcement
-
Eligibility for tenure-track position (completion of terminal degree required)
