Position Overview

Cameron University’s Department of Social Sciences seeks a full-time Instructor of Criminal Justice, starting August 2026. The role includes teaching undergraduate courses across a range of criminal justice topics, engaging in student advisement, department and university service, and supporting student scholarship. Faculty may teach face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses, with flexibility in instructional format.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate criminal justice courses based on faculty expertise and program needs

  • Support student advisement and mentoring

  • Assist with program and department assessment and development

  • Participate in departmental and university service activities

  • Support student organizations and events

  • Engage in professional development and maintain subject matter currency


Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Master’s degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field

  • Broad expertise in law enforcement, criminology, and corrections

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field

  • Three years of teaching experience in higher education

  • Familiarity with teaching research methods

  • Experience in online instruction and Quality Matters standards

  • Professional experience as a practitioner in criminal justice or related field
