Position Overview:
The Department of Pathology at UAB seeks a pathologist with expertise in Digital Pathology and Clinical Informatics. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives in Whole Slide Imaging (WSI), artificial intelligence applications, Molecular and Spatial Omics operations, and Laboratory Information/Electronic Medical Records systems (EPIC/Beaker). This role may include appointment as Director of Laboratory and Pathology Informatics, providing leadership and operational oversight to optimize departmental and enterprise-wide pathology informatics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead optimization of LIS (Beaker) usability and tele-pathology systems

  • Deploy digital pathology workflows and software platforms

  • Supervise day-to-day informatics needs and resolve technical issues

  • Integrate diagnostics across LIS, genomics, radiomics, and enterprise imaging

  • Contribute to departmental mission through research, teaching, mentoring, and continuing medical education

  • Train residents, fellows, and medical students

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D., D.O., or M.D./Ph.D.

  • Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)

  • Eligible for medical license in Alabama

  • For Associate/Full Professor appointment, national reputation and competitive research program required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship in Pathology Informatics or Clinical Informatics

  • Equivalent experience with analytics or programming in a clinical setting
