Position Overview

The Cardiovascular Division at the University of Minnesota is seeking a Critical Care Cardiologist to join its Academic track faculty. This recruitment supports the continued expansion of a nationally recognized program known for excellence in cardiovascular clinical care, innovation, and research. The selected candidate will work closely with division leadership and the Lillehei Heart Institute to advance the University's clinical, educational, and scholarly missions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical care in critical care cardiology

  • Deliver comprehensive general cardiology services

  • Collaborate with division and institute leadership to support programmatic growth

  • Engage in scholarly activity, clinical research, and academic initiatives

  • Contribute to medical education through teaching and mentorship

  • Support the Medical School’s mission through service, collaboration, and community engagement


Qualifications

Required

  • M.D. or equivalent degree

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Critical Care Cardiology

  • Eligibility for and ability to obtain a Minnesota medical license

  • Advanced training in critical care cardiovascular medicine

  • Demonstrated expertise in general cardiology patient management

  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. work authorization

Preferred

  • Strong academic record in research, education, or clinical innovation

  • Experience working within academic medical centers


Pay and Appointment Details

  • Appointment: 100%

  • Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff

  • Compensation:

    • The position is jointly employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians

    • University academic salary begins at $55,000, dependent on academic effort

    • Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians

    • Total compensation is competitive and aligned with AAMC benchmarks
