Position Summary
Marietta College seeks a dynamic and experienced Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director to provide vision, leadership, and oversight for its Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program. The Program Director ensures compliance with ARC-PA standards, fosters academic excellence, and promotes a culture of professionalism and collaboration.
The Program Director is responsible for curriculum oversight, program assessment, faculty and staff leadership, clinical education, student success initiatives, accreditation compliance, and overall program administration. This role is integral to advancing the quality and impact of the PA program.
Essential Functions
Program Leadership and Administration

Provide strategic direction to maintain a high-quality, student-centered PA program aligned with Marietta College’s mission.

Ensure ongoing compliance with ARC-PA standards and serve as the primary liaison to the accrediting body.

Supervise the medical director, didactic and clinical directors, faculty, and program staff.

Chair key program committees (Curriculum, Admissions, Accreditation, Progress & Conduct) to ensure effectiveness in policy implementation and student success.

Manage program budget, fiscal resources, and strategic allocation.

Lead faculty recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development.

Cultivate collaborative relationships with clinical partners, healthcare systems, and community stakeholders to secure clinical sites and preceptors.
Curriculum and Assessment

Oversee design, development, review, and revision of didactic and clinical curriculum.

Maintain alignment with ARC-PA standards, program competencies, and NCCPA blueprints.

Lead program assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives, including the use of student, faculty, and clinical performance data.

Support faculty in implementing evidence-based teaching methods and technology-enhanced instruction.
Accreditation and Compliance

Ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation and institutional requirements.

Maintain program records, documentation, and reports for ARC-PA.

Oversee publication of program information for prospective and current students.
Student Success and Support

Promote a professional, ethical, and inclusive learning environment.

Oversee advising, remediation, and academic progression policies.

Facilitate orientation and career development activities.

Participate in student recruitment, admissions, and interview processes.
Teaching and Scholarship

Teach within the curriculum as appropriate and model student-centered teaching practices.

Maintain clinical competency and engage in scholarly and professional activities.
Service

Participate in college governance, professional organizations, and community outreach.

Represent the PA program and Marietta College regionally and nationally.
Qualifications
Required
-
Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program.

Master’s degree or higher.

Active NCCPA certification in good standing.

Minimum three years of full-time higher education experience, with evidence of academic and administrative leadership.

At least three years of clinical experience as a practicing PA.

Experience with ARC-PA accreditation processes (self-study, site visits, reporting).

Demonstrated experience in teaching, curriculum development, or educational leadership.
Preferred
-
Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DMSc, DHS, or equivalent).

Prior experience as a Program Director, Associate Program Director, or Director of Clinical/Didactic Education.

Proven success in faculty leadership, curriculum innovation, program development, and scholarly productivity.

Experience in budget management and administrative operations in an academic setting.
Physical Requirements

Primarily office/classroom work with occasional standing, walking, or teaching.

Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.

Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds.

Travel may be required for professional development, accreditation, and clinical site engagement.
