Assistant/Associate Professor – Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Program
The University of Lynchburg, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, invites applications for a full-time (12-month), non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor position. This role will support the DMSc program, providing innovative doctoral education for Physician Assistants seeking advanced academic credentials, with a focus on leadership and advanced clinical medicine.
The successful candidate will engage in teaching, scholarship, and service, collaborate with community healthcare agencies, and actively participate in professional organizations at the regional, state, national, and international levels.
Key Responsibilities
Program Administration & Curriculum:

Support the DMSc Program Director and Associate Director in program planning, administration, review, and development.

Assist in preparation of reports, mission statements, and program assessment.

Participate in curriculum design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.

Serve as Course Director or Course/Concentration Lead for assigned DMSc courses.

Coordinate course schedules, faculty assignments, and student remediation.

Review and maintain all course materials, learning objectives, and exam security.

Contribute to the growth of the College of Medical Science through curricular and program development.
Teaching & Mentorship:
-
Teach online DMSc courses within areas of expertise.

Teach hybrid Master of PA Medicine courses with a combination of onsite and online instruction.

Mentor and advise students in research projects, academic performance, and professional development.

Provide remediation and guidance for students with substandard performance.
Service & Professional Engagement:

Attend all scheduled faculty and committee meetings.

Assist in recruitment, assessment, and coordination of adjunct faculty.

Uphold the values and mission of the University of Lynchburg.

Participate in DMSc program committees and professional organizations.
Qualifications
Required:
-
NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant
-
Virginia PA license (or eligibility for licensure in state of residence)

Doctoral degree in a health-related field

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience

Experience teaching in a PA program, medical school, or clinical setting

Experience developing or managing online curriculum

Commitment to working with diverse, multi-cultural, and multi-lingual students and healthcare providers

Strong dedication to underserved populations and improving healthcare access

Weekly onsite attendance for faculty and committee meetings
