Director/Assistant Professor, Physician Associate Program

Mount Saint Mary’s University, in partnership with Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director/Assistant Professor of the Physician Associate Program. This is a full-time, twelve-month faculty position and a unique opportunity to serve as the inaugural Program Director, establishing a Physician Associate program from the ground up.
The University is currently pursuing accreditation with the ARC-PA, and the founding Director will lead this process, leveraging MSMU’s historic leadership in the Health Sciences. This is a non-tenure track position during program development, with transition to tenure-track upon program commencement.
Responsibilities
Initial Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of self-study documents for provisional accreditation.

Review and modify the existing curriculum to meet accreditation standards.

Collaborate with the Medical Director to identify and develop clinical education site agreements.

Develop the program handbook.
Ongoing Responsibilities
-
Ensure ongoing compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards and reporting.

Provide academic advising and student evaluation.
-
Participate in program and university assessment activities.

Support faculty recruitment, hiring, and professional development.

Lead program faculty and staff in curriculum review, goal-setting, and outcomes assessment.

Oversee admissions policies and processes for the program.

Represent the program at university meetings.

Teach courses and supervise faculty and staff in program-related activities.

Manage the department/program budget and maintain clinical expertise as required.

Engage in scholarly activity and perform other program-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited program.

Knowledge and experience with ARC-PA accreditation standards.

Current NCCPA certification.

Minimum 3 years of clinical experience.

Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in California.

Minimum 3 years of full-time higher education experience, with PA education teaching strongly preferred.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and lead effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Earned doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (required for tenure-track positions).

Administrative experience in a Physician Associate Program.

Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
