About the Fellowship Opportunity

The Northeastern University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships Program is a two-year experiential training initiative designed to support the professional development of recent Pharm.D. graduates. The program equips Fellows with the skills and experiences required to meet evolving workforce needs across the pharmaceutical industry.

Through this fellowship, participants engage closely with Northeastern faculty while working alongside innovative biopharmaceutical partners. Fellows participate in teaching, professional development, service, scholarly activities, and cross-functional industry exposure.

In collaboration with Northeastern University, Pacira BioSciences, Inc. is offering a two-year fellowship in Global Medical Information and Communications, based in Parsippany, New Jersey.

Fellowship Structure

The Pharmacy Postdoctoral Fellow will join Pacira’s Global Medical Information & Communications team for a two-year program. The fellowship includes:

Year 1 – Primary Rotations

  • Medical Information (6 months)

  • Medical Communications (6 months)

Year 2 – Rotational Opportunities

Three-month rotations across Global Medical Affairs functions, such as:

  • Medical Excellence

  • Field Medical

  • Grants

  • Evidence Generation

  • Publications

  • Clinical Affairs

  • Pharmacovigilance

Fellows will dedicate at least 25% of their time to supporting the Medical Information & Communications team during Year 2.

Additional longitudinal learning opportunities are available across:

  • Scientific Communications

  • Regulatory Affairs

  • Health Economics & Outcomes Research

  • Biostatistics

  • Professional Development

  • Commercial Operations

Fellows may also attend national medical congresses. Rotation extensions may be granted based on supervisor discretion and fellow interest.


Responsibilities

Global Medical Information & Communications

Sample responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop medical response letters, slide presentations, infographics, videos, and literature summaries for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Build cross-functional relationships aligned with the Global Medical Strategy.

  • Provide medical review of promotional and scientific materials.

  • Support medical information call center operations and escalation processes; analyze inquiry metrics.

  • Attend medical congresses (e.g., ASHP, ASA, ASRA, AAOS) and prepare summary reports.

  • Develop pre- and post-authorization payer dossiers and submissions to guideline compendia and pathway organizations.

  • Lead and execute a longitudinal research project.

  • Precept APPE students when available.


Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited institution.

  • Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts or New Jersey.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong leadership, time management, and organizational abilities.

  • Demonstrated initiative and capacity to work independently across multiple projects.

  • Ability to be on-site in Parsippany, NJ at least 60% of the week.
