Salary is determined according to the City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule for hourly assignments. Entry rate ranges from $90.90 to $160.48 per hour, depending on placement.
This is a temporary, part-time pool position (EC 87482).
Position Description
The Health Care Technology Department at City College of San Francisco seeks qualified applicants for its part-time Pharmacy Technology Instructor pool. This role requires in-person teaching and may include day, evening, or Saturday classes across multiple sites.
Job Duties
The Pharmacy Technology Instructor will:

Assist in delivering Pharmacy Technician courses that meet State Board of Pharmacy standards.

Teach in-person classes that align with current pharmaceutical care practices established by national professional organizations such as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
-
Provide instruction that supports achievement of all course learning outcomes.

Teach at various times and locations as needed (day, evening, or weekends).

Establish and maintain relationships with practice-training sites.
-
Ensure quality and consistency in student laboratory experiences.

Organize high-quality lab instruction for optimal student learning.

Collaborate with instructors, pharmacists, and technicians to teach subjects including:

Pharmacology
-
Automated drug distribution systems
-
IV additives
-
Pharmacy law
-
Pharmacy math
-
Pharmaceutical chemistry
-
Pharmacy computer systems
-

Implement innovative and contemporary approaches to pharmacy education.

Participate in departmental activities such as meetings, committee work, curriculum development, faculty evaluations, and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Support culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti-racist teaching practices that promote equitable student success.

Participate in ongoing training related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
-
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, including students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and different cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic groups.

One of the following educational and professional experience combinations:
-
Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of directly related professional experience; OR
-
Associate degree + 6 years of directly related professional experience; OR
-
Associate degree + CPhT certification + 4 years of directly related professional experience; OR
-
A fully-satisfied California Community College Instructor Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies (no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Desirable Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy recognized by the State Board.

Internship or work experience in both community-based and institutional pharmacy settings.

Successful postsecondary or community college teaching experience in health-related fields.

At least two years of practical experience with automated drug distribution systems (e.g., Pyxis, AccuDose, OmniCell).

Experience teaching in multicultural environments.
-
Demonstrated competencies in pharmacy practice skills.
-
Strong subject-matter expertise and ability to adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
-
Evidence of ongoing professional development, including continuing education or licensing requirements.
-
Leadership experience demonstrating culturally responsive pedagogy and commitment to equitable outcomes.
-
Experience with, and commitment to addressing, inequities affecting historically minoritized or disproportionately impacted students.
