Role Summary

The University of Arizona seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Dr. Ronadip Banerjee in the Division of Endocrinology. The focus is on molecular mechanisms of pancreatic islet adaptation during pregnancy and dysregulation in gestational diabetes and metabolic disorders. The role involves independent research, collaboration with lab members, and career development under mentorship.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and analyze multi-stage experiments using animal models and human islets.

  • Record, organize, and present data at lab meetings and conferences.

  • Write manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.

  • Prepare posters and talks for local, regional, and national meetings.

  • Contribute to grant proposals and career development grants.

  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in lab techniques and research projects.

  • Engage in collaborative research projects with other lab members.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD and/or MD in a science-related field by start date.

  • 0–5 years of postdoctoral-level experience.

  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the PI.

  • Willingness to work with animal models and human islets.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in islet biology or diabetes research.

  • Background in metabolism, genetics, developmental biology, or related disciplines.

  • Experience with mouse models.

  • Strong candidates for extramural postdoctoral fellowships are preferred.


Employment Details

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week (FTE 1.0)

  • Salary: DOE, following NIH postdoctoral guidelines
