Role Summary

The Qiu Lab seeks a motivated researcher to study neural circuit mechanisms underlying behavior, including chronic pain and neuromodulatory therapies. The position involves hands-on experiments in immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, electrophysiology, and mouse tissue processing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct immunohistochemistry to assess brain changes in mouse models.

  • Perform whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology in brain slices.

  • Execute molecular and cellular assays relevant to neuroinflammation and neural plasticity.

  • Design, develop, and implement complex research projects independently.

  • Analyze and interpret scientific data using independent judgment.

  • Collaborate within the department and across university units.

  • Present research findings at lab meetings and conferences.

  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and grant writing.

  • Assist with supervision of lab staff and daily lab operations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Psychology, or a closely related field.

  • Research experience in at least one of: electrophysiology, imaging, immunohistochemistry, neuroanatomy, or molecular biology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Experience with patch-clamp recordings.

  • Background in neuromodulation or chronic pain research.

  • Proficiency with imaging or data-analysis software.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
