Role Summary
The Qiu Lab seeks a motivated researcher to study neural circuit mechanisms underlying behavior, including chronic pain and neuromodulatory therapies. The position involves hands-on experiments in immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, electrophysiology, and mouse tissue processing.
Key Responsibilities
-
Conduct immunohistochemistry to assess brain changes in mouse models.

Perform whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology in brain slices.

Execute molecular and cellular assays relevant to neuroinflammation and neural plasticity.

Design, develop, and implement complex research projects independently.

Analyze and interpret scientific data using independent judgment.

Collaborate within the department and across university units.

Present research findings at lab meetings and conferences.

Contribute to manuscript preparation and grant writing.

Assist with supervision of lab staff and daily lab operations.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Psychology, or a closely related field.

Research experience in at least one of: electrophysiology, imaging, immunohistochemistry, neuroanatomy, or molecular biology.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Experience with patch-clamp recordings.

Background in neuromodulation or chronic pain research.

Proficiency with imaging or data-analysis software.

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
