Role Summary

The Division of Allergy and Immunology at USF seeks a full-time Open Rank Basic Scientist to conduct independent and collaborative research in areas such as asthma, immunotherapy, and food allergies. The candidate will also engage in teaching, mentoring, and service, contributing to student training, departmental committees, and university-wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Research:

• Develop and maintain an externally funded research program.

• Design and execute hypothesis-driven experiments; analyze, interpret, and present data.

• Contribute to manuscripts, grant writing, and peer-reviewed publications.

• Collaborate with clinicians and internal/external teams to advance translational research.

Teaching:

• Educate medical students and residents in internal medicine and allergy/immunology.

• Supervise residents in in-patient settings and precept medical students in ambulatory clinics.

• Mentor students and trainees in scholarly projects.

Service:

• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.

• Represent the university in professional and academic settings.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Ph.D. in immunology, microbiology, or related life sciences.

• Demonstrated achievement in teaching, research, and service.

• Eligible for appointment at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank.

Preferred:

• 3–4 years of basic science experience in an academic medical center.

• Strong background in immunology, molecular biology, and cellular signaling.

• Proficiency in techniques such as cell culture, PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, cytokine profiling, immunoassays, and in vivo immunological models.

• Expertise in data analysis for immunology experiments using tools like GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, and R.

• Experience with bioinformatics and transcriptomics is a plus.
