About the Role
Virginia Tech (VT) invites applications for multiple faculty positions at any rank in cancer research. These appointments are part of a major initiative at VTās Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) Cancer Research Centers. Faculty will join an interdisciplinary team of cancer researchers at VT campuses in Roanoke and Washington DC and collaborate with researchers across VT and Childrenās National Hospital.
Successful candidates will maintain a high-quality, extramurally funded research program in cancer biology, with opportunities to teach graduate students and mentor undergraduate, medical, and graduate students. Applicants with expertise in cell and gene therapies, including experimental laboratory or computational/informatics approaches, are especially encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities

Establish and lead a competitive, extramurally funded cancer research program

Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams across VT and affiliated institutions

Mentor graduate, medical, and undergraduate students in research

Participate in teaching graduate-level courses, as applicable

Contribute to the research community through publications and presentations
Required Qualifications
-
Earned doctorate (PhD, MD, and/or DVM) in a relevant field

Postdoctoral research experience

Proven record of high-quality publications

Demonstrated success in securing extramural funding appropriate to the desired faculty rank
